My '09 base 2wd Access with 2.7 Pyrite Mica is almost 4 years old. It has 27k miles on it and I really like (liked) it. My wife just bough a '12 Highlander and I really like the V6 and the color (Magnetic Gray Metalic). I really have the itch to upgrade and have a couple of questions.

I am thinking about a V6 Double Cab short box. My biggest concern is the ride. I really like the ride of my base '09. Most I have seen come with the towing package which includes a "Firm Suspension" package.

Can anyone compare the ride with the firm suspension package to the base or even the ride of 4wd vs 2wd.

Most of the ones on the lot I see come with either too many options I will never use or dislike. I hate the hood scoop and TRD badging. Can the badging on the bed fender be removed easily?

Can you order one from the factory with exactly what you are looking for?

I think I remember reading that the gen3 will come out in 2014 and I wonder if it might be better to wait until then.

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Rick

I just purchased the 2012 base, access cab, 4x4 the other day. I love it, the ride is smooth. I dont know how much this is helping you, but I thought I would put in my two cents. I cant provide that much knowledge, seeing that I havent had any of the other tacomas, but I think I could say you will be pleased. It def has enough cup holders for just a two door. But im def pleased in my purchased!

I have a 2012 SR5 double cab and I LOVE IT!!! No scoop, no side stickers and a ton of great features. Only thing I wish I had were the JBL stereo system and the TRD rims and better tires. Just put some TRD rims on this week though.

I just got my SR5 V6 and my buddy got a SR5 4banger. We switched for a quick drive and both of us agree that the ride feels similiar.

The SR5 package would come with more options than base but less than the TRD packages. It also would not have the scoop or bed decals. It should also have a softer ride than the TRD Off-Road. Go to Toyota's website and look up the Tacoma. It will show you there what options are included with each package so you can compare. From the sounds of it you will probably be deciding between a base model and a SR5.

I have gone to the Toyota webite and hit the "Build" button but nothing happens.

I just found the specs button to compare. Thanks
