brewer lake (shaver area)

my truck is officially broken in. took the fam on this trail. rated as easiest among shaver trails and got my heart pumpin in some places with the bone stock taco on street tires. aired down to 25psi and prayed to the sidewall gods.

too awesome to get to the lake and watch people walk by and ask how the hell a stock truck made it in.. . . . and without a visible scratch. "i didnt think my Off Road could make it in here, I left it at the first rock-pile." patience, a light foot, and an open mind got me in. coming out i will admit that my driver control arm got stamped into a rock real sexylike when my lack of side lugs showed some weakness. I wont do this trail again without some more meat on the wheels.

mostly posting this for those 559ers and beyond who might wanna know about this trail and how hard it "really" is. though my frame, control arms, and exhaust are a bit scratched up, my clutch got the only real abuse and still works, even though i stunk it up twice. guys pulled in in their Razors complaining about some of the tight spots, dont listen to em, just gofer it

 

Excellent! I may go there one day. I know the lake, a friend told me about it, did not know there were trails there.

 

yea there are miles and miles of trails in the area. . . .most of which i wouldn't attempt without a solid front axle but this trail was good. it was a great time for me as i havent had this truck on any trails yet that could spell "you f-d up" without choosing the perfect line.

 

Great job in a stock taco! I did Brewer lake a couple years ago and camped it on the shore, it an awesome trail. While there we also did West Lake (easier) and went throught to Strawberry Lake (harder). We also did Bald mountain on our way in to the lake trails. I'm up there all the time now, its such an awesome area and actually heading back up for labor day weekend after being there just 3 weeks ago exploring other sweet trails and lake shore camp spots!

 

right on! yea im trying bald mtn next i think, i've heard straberry is do-able, but im not even going to attempt without some sliders first. i'll have to try west lake, im not familiar with that.

maybe ill see you up there sometime!
