Hi everyone! Glad I found this site/forum, hope I can tap into folks knowledge and expertise here!

I am an avid Toyota fan, bought my first Tacoma new off the lot, a 2000 PreRunner V6 SR5 TRD. The dealership installed TRD Headers/Gaskets and the TRD Cat Back exhaust. Added clear corners, euro tailights, chrome billet grill, vent deflectors, Ingen cold air intake, and dropped $3k for a custom designed stereo/speaker box. Also added a Rancho 3" Suspension lift, and rolled with 33" Toyo MT's. Even snagged the chrome TRD Brake light cover. I put all 93,000 original miles on it since 2000.....

..... until 4 weeks ago, my baby was totaled. It was parked in my driveway Saturday morning, unoccupied ... when my neighbor hit it driving 55mph down our residential street. He took out a few other things, but he impacted my truck enough that both insurance companies totaled it.

I'm still torn over it, and I'm fighting with the "At Fault" insurance company to get a fair market value, which to my shock was nowhere near what I hoped it to be ... ugh.

However in the meantime, I DID find a newer used Tacoma from the Portland Oregon market. A 2008 V6 Double Cab 4x4 TRD SR5 unit ... the sellers stated Toyota did the lift work before it was sold from the lot (i've never heard of that happening before, anyone else know if Toyota goes aftermarket with upgrades on a new unit??)

It has a 6" Procomp suspension lift, 35" Toyo tires, Magnaflow exhaust, K&N Intake. I'm hopeful I can get headers added, since I'm losing the set I had for the 2000 PreRunner ... ugh.

I found her off Craigslist, after it was posted for 24hours. Drove up, inspected it, and bought it. It is in pristine condition inside and out, and 60k miles sofar. The family took very good care of it. However I do have a question for you all ...

Day time running lights and cracking? The DRL on this unit heated up enough that the lenses cracked in half. Is that a known defect? Toyota replaces?

And headers .... are they still available from TRD for the 08's? I thought I saw or read something about TRD not offering them anymore....

Anyhow, theres my little introduction! :)

05-11 year models are pretty much all the same except for a few features here and there. I don't think TRD offers headers, but most people look into Doug Thorley and JBA.

The DTRL issue is not too uncommon.... I've heard of it a few different times on here. Look into which bulbs you have installed. I think some people have a higher wattage bulb installed but I don't remember the outcome when I researched the topic. I started a poll a long time ago regarding this very subject if you wish to search it.

Bummer what happened to your old truck, hardly even looked that bad but I'm sure it did a number to that frame!!!

Welcome from Sacramento, a native Astorian here, still running my OR plates. I frequently go back through the portland area. Few good guys up there, you'll have to meet them sometime and hit TSF.

Best of luck! Any questions, feel free to PM me!

Thanks for the info. I'll peg the Toyota dealership and see if I can get lenses to replace the cracked ones.

Yeah the damage doesnt look all that bad, there is paint transfer on the frame and a tiny bit of warping. The back cab took the brunt of the impact. A Toyota collision center estimated $8.5-$9k repair cost.

    Grrrrr .....

The worst part, the other driver is my next door neighbor, he had a suspended license, and our County Sheriff's did not arrest him or anything due to budget cuts. They let him get his paperwork and walk into his house.

So right now my 2000 PreRunner sits in a gated lot, waiting it's fate with my fight with the other insurance company. I think that alone gave me 50 extra gray hairs ....

Hello from Selah, WA., sorry to hear about your truck. When I was stationed in Hawaii a neighbor came home drunk and T-boned our car, totalling it. I know what you are going through with the insurance companies.
