yes they were 4WD. I put about 27k on the 04 DC & it averaged close to 20 mpg on my highway trips after engine break-in. That was completely bone stock, dino oil changes, oem rugged trails & on/off driving conservatively.

Believe it or not, the wheelbase on the tacoma DC LB is actually a fraction longer than the tundra DC, 140.9" vs 140.9" So both give excellent highway rides. Of course, overall length & width is bigger in the tundra which makes for a roomy cabin for road trips. Thats what I remember from my buying & driving experience. Roominess, nicely featured cabin layout, factory sunroof, auto rear slider.

Have you test driven one yet?

Care to elaborate?;) The 1st gen tundras get pretty much rave reviews across the board from what I've seen. Minor issues here and there. Biggest complaint seems to be gas mileage.

There's nothing wrong with a Tundra, PERIOD. Hell, an overly picky person could say "The Tacoma is not a wise decision, research it." about a Tacoma with the TSB's and other issues. Every vehicle has its problems.
