In a nutshell I had the clutch stick on me 2-3 times one afternoon so I went home and swapped out the slave cylinder(Perfection Brand), I thought that had fixed the issue but a couple days later I had it stick again so I tried swamping the clutch master cylinder out. I put one master cylinder on and it seemed to work flawlessly on the test drive, when I got home I noticed fluid on the push-rod in the interior, not good... I went and got another clutch master cylinder and swapped it out which leads me to my current issue. I have bled it well over a dozen times using a "bleeder gun/device" yet the clutch still does not come all the way back out to where it should be, it catches with about an inch left and I have to pop it out the rest of the way with my foot. If I just dump the clutch in neutral it has no hiccups. To me the push-rod has a slight hiccup, it does not come out perfectly level (if that makes any sense), there is slight movement of the rod, not sure if that is normal.

I am able to drive it but it is far from perfect or how it should be IMO. My only thought is the very cheap advanced auto "perfection" brand which is $24.99, just cheap crap!

Anyone have any suggestions? Get the Aisin dealer clutch master cylinder for $108.87? OR could I somehow still have air in the line??

Thanks for the help in advance!!!

Return it and get another OR NAPA has a good rebuild kit. CHEAP is not always CHEAP.

Get a factory Toyota master and slave cylinder. I bought a NAPA master and slave on my old Toyota truck. I used the lifetime warranty probably three times in 60K miles.

This is one place where the OEM parts are the way to go.

If you still have the problem after that, try and get it to stick in the driveway. Then crawl under there and crack the bleeder loose and see if the clutch fork moves. If it does, you know the issue is in the hydraulics. If it does not move back to the rest position, it's in the clutch itself.

I kind of figured that. It has been a very aggravating experience!

What do you think about these from Amazon.com? They seem a few bucks cheaper than dealer cost and appear to be OEM direct from AISIN?

    AISIN - Clutch Master Cylinder
    http://www.amazon.com/Aisin-W0133-1...er-Cylinder/dp/B001HIGU6W/ref=pd_rhf_dp_p_t_3

    AISIN - Slave Cylinder
    http://www.amazon.com/Aisin-W0133-1627730-ASC-Clutch-Slave-Cylinder/dp/B001HIATO6/ref=au_pf_pfg_s?ie=UTF8&Make=Toyota|76&Model=Tacoma|1037&Year=2003|2003&carId=001&n=15684181&newCar=1&s=automotive&vehicleType=automotive

    Thanks again for your opinions!

One more thing. When I do go to change both these is there a recommended/prefered order? Master before slave, slave before master or it doesn't matter? thanks! This is a first time experience with this type of thing on any vehicle.

Aisin is what is usually stamped on the OEM Toyota stuff. That price appears to be about the same as the dealer would charge. Well, at least the last time I checked......which I guess would be 10-12 years ago now when I had my 1986 4x4. I seem to remember about 100 bucks for the master and 50 for the slave. So I cheaped out and went with NAPA stuff.

It does not matter which one you change first. When you get them both in, you bleed the whole system one time and you're good to go. I got VERY proficient at these when I had the 86. I doubt it's going to take much more than an hour to change them both and bleed the system. Of course you'll need a helper to pump the pedal, but you should already know that.

OEM stuff IS expensive, but remember how long the original lasted and the price starts to seem very reasonable.

I installed the Toyota Dealer parts from Dan Cava Toyota World in Fairmont, WV and it shifts like a dream... Steven Fisher in parts was one of the most knowledgeable and pleasurable guys I have ever worked with!

One of the most reliving feelings I have had a while!!

So if you are reading this with similar issues just save yourself a lot of time and an insane amount of frustration and get the AISIN slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder!!!!

    Thanks all!

I'm doing this as we speak. I replaced the slave with asin and master with a parts house brand 3 months ago. Christmas day no more clutch. Gonna try another with warranty but I have already called on a new part from dealer. $120.00 but it is a special order part and won't be here until tomorrow. I'm going to look online for a better price but if I can't beat that price by a huge amount I go with the dealer part.
