soo the battery light has been on a couple weeks now on my 06 tacoma. noticed there was a little corrosion around the terminals so i figured that could be it..finally got around to do it, cleaned with wire brush and nothing. light is still on..and i've recently noticed that the light will go off for a few seconds and my headlights will brighten and go dim again when the light returns..also the a/c blower will get stronger/weaker like the lights.. autozone's checkup said everything was good.. i checked some connections myself and they seemed fine..any ideas? any help would be great.. thanks

:) You must not a severe problem with the battery light, as most Tacos go dead after the battery light goes on for a while. How old is your Fan belt ?

It could be slipping and causing this type of problem. I would also check your battery cables and make sure the connections are tight on the body for the ground and on the starter for the positive. You are having something pulling a mild draw on your alternator output, accounting for the dimming and resurging of the power. A bad fan belt will do this also. Good Luck.

Flaring of lights? I'd be looking for another alternator.

Popular misconception that the battery light means a bad battery. The battery light indicates that the charging system is not charging properly. Could be a loose belt, failed alternator, a control wire problem, or it COULD be a bad battery that is loading up the charging system beyond capacity. considering your description, I would doubt the battery is bad. A quick test could be to remove the alternator and take it to a local parts supplier that tests alternators and starters.
