Hey guys - new here, been reading a lot and searching a bunch.

I just got a DCLB Taco and I am looking to get some new wheels for it.

Its the TRD Sport with the 17" wheels and 265/65/17 tires.

Now I understand thee wheels are 7.5" wide...but everything I have found online (at least wheels I like) seem to be 17x8 and in some cases 17x9.

Can I put the factory size tire on a wheel thats wider than the stock wheel?

Do I need different tires for it? I don't plan on doing a lift, just dont like the stock wheels.

    Thanks!

Go to either the tire manufacturers home site or "Tire Rack.Com" and look for the recommended wheel width for your style and size tires. Do not go with a wheel wider than is recommended by the tire maker.

265 tires will be fine with 7"-8" wheels

    Cool that sounds good.

this might be a stupid question...but for all you guys with lifts and big wheels/tires...how do you deal with the speedometer adjustments?

I mean - its gonna be off with a size that is not stock, is there a way to calibrate it, or do you just have to live with it being an inaccurate reading?

With your stock 265/65/17 tires your speedometer should read 2-3 mph slow as set by the manufacturer for safety reasons. If you move up to a 265/70/17 tire your speedometer should be dead on with radars and gps devices. A larger tire will affect the speedometer with inaccurate readings. There are ways around it but it is not as easy as some other vehicles. I believe some people use a Dakota Digital product on our trucks that has to be spliced into some wires under the dash to correct the speedometer.

Cool - well I guess 17s with 265/70/17s is what I will be getting.

Now to find a black wheel set I like.
