When i was 16 (2004) i got a 95 base model tacoma reg cab 5 speed with the 2.4, it already had a CAI on it and i got 29-31 mpg and loved it. i got it in early june, at the end of august i read an artical in a magazine at the dentist office about the 05 model redesign, and knew one day i would have one. 7 years later i got an 05 DC prerunner with the 4.0. It had 142k miles on it (just getting broke in for a toyota) and i bought it from an older man who had bought it for his son that wanted something bigger. i got it for 13,000 (almost 4k under book value) couldnt pass it up. that was 1 1/2 years ago and i still love it. he was running 10w 40 in it for some reason and i got 21 1/2 mpg when i first got it (driving about 20 miles one way to work in rural driving [50 mph 6 stop signs]) street tires, i swapped to 5w30 and got 23.5mpg a time or two but always ran over 22. i now drive 3 miles to work and get 18.5 one telstar all terrains i put on a few months ago i swapped to senthetic oil the last time i changed it and didnt notice any difference, but i go 6k change the oil filter and top off then do a full change at 12k so the convenience of change my oil 2 1/2 times less often is worth it to me. i now have 165k and its goin strong plan on putting another 250k on it then maybe doin an engine/ tranny swap for the 3.0l D4d diesel out of the hilux ha.
