I bought a 2010 a couple months ago. TRD Sport, V6, 4x4, etc. On the way home from the dealership I noticed the cruise control light came on but the speed would not set. I called the dealership and they tried explaining how to use cruise control like I was some idiot.

A couple weeks later the cruise control actually worked when I tried using it. Now a month later when I try to use it, it doesn't even turn on. No dash light, nothing.

I've checked all the fuses and they look good. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Also, the truck has just over 40k on it and in addition to the cc not working, the transmission is slipping and the a/c makes some off and on horrible noise. Not just the ticking noise, some loud grinding noise. I took it to the dealer at 37000 miles and they told me it wasn't under warranty any more.

Any help on the cruise control issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My only guess with the cruise control is the stalk itself. While researching the OEM kit I installed, I found a couple people who had a stalk go bad. Simple as just unplugging the old one and reconnecting the a replacement one.

the stalk would be the thing sticking out of the steering column with the cruise control buttons on it.

I'll take it back to the dealer to assess the transmission. I'm so let down with this truck so far, had such hi hopes.

    Thank you for the feedback.

You do know that just because the cruise light is on, it does not necessarily mean the cruise control function is holding your speed, right? You have to push the button to turn it on, then tap the stalk down to set the speed. From there you can adjust it faster/slower by taping up or down on stalk.

If you knew all this, then disregard this reply. LOL

that is funny. The light doesn't even come on any more. I'm going to try the stalk replacement first.

Well this issue is most likely the switch and not the stalk. I spoke with Toyota CORP today and they agreed to cover 50% of the cost. So I'm going to have the ac, cc, and transmission gone through.
