    This. Nothing new.

    also this

Might have to do with weight? I think a true chrome wheel is much heavier than an aluminum alloy wheel.

Wheels aren't made from chrome. Chrome is a plating and the difference in weight isn't even measurable.

Yea I know, but don't they contain more steel to accept chrome plating better?

No Sir, the chrome layer is mm thin and can be applied over any aluminum alloy or steel wheel. It has nothing to do with the wheel itself or it's makeup.

Anyone actually removed the covers yet? Pics? Technique? I might remove the covers and paint the alloy rims.

Wish this showed in the search before I spent 800 on these to just replace them with BFDs... Would have saved me a ton of money. Couldn't find anywhere that had them in person figured I could have them refinished. Can't refinish plastic. The wheels don't look bad but I'm anti bling. The wheel underneath looks good. Tese would be great powdercoated. I have a set in NorCal if anyone was looking for a set

One of the guys on FSC removed them from his Silverado.

It was a MAJOR pain in the ass. The chrome "hubcap" was fairly thin plastic, but the thing was bonded to the wheel itself with a dense, hard foam that was a bitch to clean off of the wheel.

I realize this thread is old but I want this "chrome" shit off my wheels so bad has anyone now removed theirs? I don't care about breaking the "chrome" I just don't want to damage the wheel. Once I powder coat the actual wheel I know it will look great.

Newbie here, but I have them, don't mind them really, but figure the wheels underneath look pretty good, so why not remove them and put them back on when I sell.

But, I've called two dealerships and no one will tell me HOW to get them off. Both dealership service departments didn't even know what they were. One guy said there was adhesive, the other said they snap on. Great, but how do I snap them off?

Guess I'll take it to them and let them do it. That way if they break one, they would need to replace it.

    Any advice on removal???

They are not designed to come off and will likely be destroyed removing them.

The "chrome clad" wheels on GM vehicles are mounted on a very dense foam and everything is bonded.
