aal or leaf pack..?

    Hello tw,
    So i have a 2005 dclb 4wd. I have the 5100s all around, front set at .85...My question is what is the best option to lift the rear about 1.5" in my situation??... My truck has 120,xxx miles on it, never hauls, never tow, only offroad is camping trips or occasional logging road, and previous owner babied the truck BUT, the rear leaves are flat...

    I really love the idea of the deaver leafpack, but its 625$ and i cant spend that. I dont want the dakars b/c i dont want a 2.5-3" lift (only want to keep front setting at 1.75 on bilstiens) so is an aal even worth it??? or maybe find a leafpack from the junkyard....?

    any help appreciated

    I put the icon 3 leaf add a leaf from DSM on my truck. Seems good so far.

    If your leafs are flat then an aal is not a great option. You would be better off trying to find something in a junkyard or someone who has upgraded and has a newer than yours leaf pack for sale. Then you can add an aal to that like the icon 3 leaf. Otherwise get a new leaf pack.

    i've seen a guy on here who has actually taken a leafpack apart from a chevy 1ton and used leaves from it in his tacoma leaf pack..i think it was on a 1st gen. though...i think the new leafpacks would be best, but again they are $$$....several people i've talked to said the aal is super hard so it will help out the flat springs but others have said that it will only "temporarily" help out.....what to do....

    The rebuild with Chevy springs is somewhat guess work. You may not know the height until its done. Yes an aal on worn out springs is temporary but all leaf springs wear out eventually. Tacoma springs are pretty flat in general but with your mileage they are probably done. A spring shop can rearch them but I think that may be temporary too. Can you post some photos of your springs?

    A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
    If you have the cash then full pack if not then 3 leaf AAL is a great alternative.

    Im out of town this wknd...i'll post some pics of the springs when i return home. I agree that the re-arch would prob. be a waste of time, and the chevy spring fab would be a trial-type project...but it did yield good results for the member who did it.

    I've checked local salvage yards and no one seems to have leaf packs from a newer tacoma, so i might just leave it alone and save up for new leafpacks or just run an aal for now . Like stated b4, all springs wear out eventually
