    Hi !

I,m looking for a lift kit 3'' for my 2009 Tacoma.
According to your experience, (meaning YOU did it, or got it done)

    1. Which brand is the best?
    2. Am I gonna get a real 3'' in the back?
    3. Should I go for AAL or a block installation?

P.S. I'm actually looking for the Revtek 426 or 426A, but i'm waiting for YOUR COMMENTS FIRST before buying.

    Thanks a bunch!
    Mon Leb.

I only have experience with my 3" toytec lift. I went with the lift blocks in the rear because at the time toytec only offered that if you had the TSB done. I installed my lift and love it. I have the 884 coils up front, Now toytec reccomends the 885 for double cabs. I also have the TRD shocks all around, with extensions in the rear. All drop kits and axle degree shims.

I bought a tough country lift from suspensionconnection.com and I put it in with my dad and we installed it in about 7 hours, it would have been quicker if we had a wall mounted spring compressor, but I am really happy with the lift. It has coil spacers in the front and lift springs in the back. The front went up 3" and the back 2.75", I recommend it anyways, I know I have put it through a durability test over the last 6 months.

Welcome to the board- Your questions and bold/colored comments make it challenging just cause most folks don't have more than one lift...so I'm not going to say which is best- I ordered OME parts for mine...but haven't installed yet-so I don't know how they are.

If you order the right parts-yes you will get 3 inches...Are you trying to keep the same rake all the way around or get it level @ ~3inches high??

Go the AAL- Less issues on the whole. Blocks can break and worsen axle wrap...AALs tend to help with wrap and while they can break it's far less common.

I don't know yet. I guess i'd like to have a real 3" in the front as well as in the back. But the more I look, the more I understand that most of the companies I saw on internet (thanks to all the people who took the time to answer me) only offers 2.25" to 2.75", not more. But I could live with that.

    Thanks!

check out toytec... I love there lifts and prices. You will get a great quality ride out of the OME kit. Spacers will give you a stiffer ride.

I sense a little sarcasim here. Were just giveing you a friendly welcome. LOTS of different lifts out there, and youre not giveing us much info to help you. The "Best" depends on alot of things. What do you want the lift for? Looks? Wheeling? Whats your budget?
Spacers are gonna either stiffen your ride (Preload spacers) or extend the spring/shock assembly (Top Plate spacers). THEN, you have seperate springs you can get, and different spring rates. Are you going to add a bumper? Winch? "Coilovers" offer adjustability, AND different spring rates, but have to be rebuilt periodically. THEN, If you lift near 3" in the front, Your gonna have Alignment adjust ment issues. You will loose Caster. Are you gonna replace your UCA's? Your best bet is to search around the site. See what others are running on their trucks. ASk some questions and decide what you are going for. All of us are going to help you make an educated desision.

My dear Chris I'm sorry that you took it like I was been ironic and/or sarcastic. NO SARCASM HERE BUDDY! Just a guy who really appreciate the advices of you all. Quite frankly when I'm asking questions around where I live, all I get is somebody who doesn't know f$%? all, and want to sell me anything, by all means. So once again, I just want to gather as much infos as I possibly can (mainly because I haven't fixed my mind yet!) from people who actually when through the same process, and don't have anything to sell me.

    Thanks again!

Well, then, What are you looking for out of the lift? Looks? Off Roading? Both? A 3" lift will throw your alignment off, and a top plate spacer can be hard on the ball joints, and possibly lead to breakage of a shock. Are you going to get different wheels? ANd what size tires are you looking to run?
    :)

As far as having experience with a specific lift, I have a 3" spacer lift from Xtremetrucktoys...... and dont like it much. Makes some funny noises, induces binding, and the AAL that came with it flattened out.
I have some OME 885 coils I'm going to swap into the front when I have enough money to buy their matching shocks and do it all in one swoop. On the rear I now have a new 1.75" AAL from Wheeler's Offroad and a 1" block and some Bilstein 5100 rear shocks extended for more flex via toytec's extenders. That setup works pretty good for me- Rides comfortably, handles loads well and works offroad well too.

When you lift 3 or more inches it is smart to replace your UCA's, it will help out the alignment problems and what not.
