wont shift out of park after connecting trailer lights?

07 tacoma wont shift out of park???? I have an 07 tacoma automatic, and helped a friend move a boat with an older trailer, the 7pin harness fit fine but when connected, my reverse lights would blink when turn signal was on. With harness disconnected, engine will start, blinkers wont work, and will not shift out of park as if ignition is off? hopeing it is just a fuse but they all look good. has anyone had a similar issue?

That is 100% a fuse. I forget which one, but I've popped that one before.

Hmm... your 7-pin plug is non-factory, isn't it? The tow harness for the factory trailer wiring protects your tail light circuit and wouldn't pop that fuse.

 

Check your ECU fuse on the lower left hand side of the steering wheel. It should be behind the little cubby. I had this happen to me when i wired Aux lights to my reverse lights and overloaded the fuse.

 

Just a thought if you have to drive you can press the switch on the side of the shifter and put it into drive. To the left of the shifter there is a square box pop it out press the button and than you can shift into gear.

 

Look in your fuse box behind your coin tray by your left leg and check the fuse that says IGn1, I think that is the one that controls the shift and all kinds of other stuff like the AC, and the air bags, and the back up camera if you have one.
