Everything ordered arrived two days ago. I have started installing a few things in the evenings after work. So far I have run the Bluetooth mic to just above the rear view mirror. The wire is plenty long and the clip that came with it fits perfectly snug between the windshield and head liner. The location is good bc it is center of the cab and a good distance from the A/C vents. Also hooked up the back-up camera with a video cable (yellow RCA plug). Ran the Iphone audio and USB cable to the center console. Rear door speakers are installed and wire run to the HU area. Hooked up the eBrake bypass and wiring harness to the HU plug. I am running all new speaker wire so the speaker plugs I purchased for the doors will not be used. Both back door speakers are installed. Today I plan on installing the front door speakers. Tomorrow I will run the amp wire and possibly dive in to hooking up the HU. I don't have time to block off a 4 hour window to do it all at once, so it is a little here and a little there type of project.

It has been a few days since I have been on TW. Everything is installed and working great. I upgraded my amp to a 4 channel 75 watt RMS amp. I am now looking at ideas as to where to mount this iPod/iPhone interface cable. Right now I have it run under the center console and coming out beside the driver's seat temporarily. I would love to get some ideas as to where I can put this thing. I will eventually add another amp and sub to finish it out.

I used to have it in the center console now it's in the glovebox....really depends on where u want it lol. In the glove box it's tucked out the way but a pain to get in and out compared to the center console. Also if u plan on using an iPhone u may want to be able to get to it easier

Can you still use the scrub feature on the iPhone when music streaming with Bluetooth? Thinking about getting the 3400BH model head unit

That center console is just awkward. I don't like the design of the lid or big open compartment. You're right the glove box is a decent spot but not when hooking up the phone. On Aug. 1st they will start enforcing the texting while driving law. I will want to keep my phone hooked up most of the time so I can use the HU to control Pandora, iPod, Phone, etc... There has to be a good spot for the cable somewhere?

What about the little cubby by the knee...or that spot behind the shifter where the center console meets the ac dash console...little open compartment

And the Bluetooth I don't have but I wouldn't see why it wouldn't allow u to fast forward or rewind. My iPod does it thru the steering controls so the Bluetooth must

I got you. I just saw a demonstration on youtube and when he showed it the scrub bar wasn't shown. I learned you can hit the album artwork and hide it. I know it's insignificant but I don't want to invest in this and have something dumb like that become annoying.

U could go to an audio store or best buy and mess around with one...thats what I would do just to make sure u like the interface and stuff. I bought my 4200 when it first came out from a guy for like 300, so I had to jump on it and I'm glad I did cause I really like it.

Scrubbing feature works as far as I know. I will try it out today to make sure though.

One thing to be careful on if you are adding amps etc. now is to have the power disconnected when plugging and unplugging the patch cords. The Pioneer units are great (running two now), but can suffer from the internal PICO fuse blowing. This causes noise in the system. Fuse can be replaced or you can mod the patch cords for grounding, but simple precaution stops the issue.

Also, depending on unit and what model iPod (especially) you might notice a popping sound while playing the iPod. I do not get this with the old NANO I have, but do have this issue with a new iPod Touch I use. Sound is like the old record player (yes that old) pop you used to get when the needle hit a small scratch. Have this issue on both the 4200 I have in the Camry and the 4300 in the Tacoma. Searched online and best way to cure it I found was to ensure the vehicle is off and the power to the iPod Touch is off when you connect it. When you start the vehicle everything boots up after a small lag and is fine.

Also, not sure if you will run into the same issue, but does this on both vehicles I have. I use the shuffle quite a bit. When first hooking everything up it starts playing songs in alphabetical (sp) order. I just hit shuffle again and gets it playing randomly again.

About it. Love both our hu's.

Interesting. I will def be more cautious now when hooking and unhooking the iPhone. I haven't noticed any popping. I have noticed that about the shuffle though. Thanks for that!

Im gonna do this for the USB I think. I have the extension running to the glove box so I will leave my iPod classic in there and I plan on running an extension from the glovebox to this spot...that way I can plug in extension and have the USB upfront when I want. Other times it will be from the iPod classic in the glove box! http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/au...sb-charger-connection-port-factory-blank.html

That is a great spot for it, but a lot of work to get it there. If I have some down time, I might dive into that someday.

    Congrats on the 3400!
