04 tacoma

just bought a 04 Tacoma haven't even made a payment yet and found out today the front diff needs rebuilt!! The dealer said they wont even help with the cost!! If it was a cheaper fix they would!! Are you freaking kidding me? Guess I won't recommend them to anyone. Love the truck but just my luck. Sorry guys just venting money is hard to come by these days.

 

Who said and why does it need to be rebuilt?
How long have you had this truck?
You should have some sort of time frame to reconsider the purchase?

 

Just bought as in yesterday, last week, last month? If you bought it from a dealer, they should have some sort of warranty, right?

 

Just bought as in 33 days ago. Their warranty expired after 30. Their mechanics checkout the noise in the front end that I have had since I bought it. The tires were out of balance bad so I had them fixed and was told that the noise would probably go since they probably were worn funny from being out of balance. It never went away just got worse so I called the dealer and theynsaid to bring it in even though the 30 days had expired. Took it in today and they said if it was a cheaper part then they would pay half but since it was going to cost them 2700$ to fix they would not. Totally frustrated right now. Found another mechanic that only does off road work and he will do it for $1200. I think the dealer knew it had a problem. I just wish I would have taken it to them right away instead of listening to some jack@&$ at the tire place. I'm no idiot when it comes to vehicles but I guess in this case I am.

 

Well, most dealerships are supposed ( supposed to being the key word) inspect vehicles prior to putting them on the lot. If they knew it or not I would be on their doorsteps till it was resolved. Thats crappy buisness.
Also, you HAVE to inspect what ya buy with a fine tooth comb. And, always get a second oppinion when buying used. ( yes, a little late this time ) just constructive criticism
