Transmission and Differential fluid change on 140k

    I am about to do a tune up on my dads 2000 tacoma and I have a feeling he has never changed his transmission or differential fluids. Would you guys recommend changing the transmission and differential fluids on a car with 140K+ miles on it?

    Ok. For the transmission fluid, its just Dextron III right? and what weight oils do you guys use for the front and rear differentials? and also transfer case?

    since yours is an auto tranny you probably don't want to have the transmission flushed, just drain old and fill with new.

    with trannys over 100k and no changes flushing can cause issues

    How much will drain just from the transmission plug? about 3 quarts? and whats of ATF are popular on this site?

    Satoshi with FJ badge, factory cruise, factory intermittent wipers, Redline Tuning hood-lift struts, Hellwig Swaybar, Rosen DVD-Nav
    Check the dipstick.
    The 2000 may take Dex-III, Toyota T-IV, or Toyota WS (WS is unlikely on the 2000.
    If it's Toyota T-IV, buy it at the dealer.
    If it's Dex-III, Mobil-1 is the best you can get OTC.

    2nd Gen will dump about 4 quarts from the pan... I'd buy 5 to be safe.

    Not sure on the transfer case.
    Mobil-1 75w90 will be fine for the 75w90 or 80w90 applications.

    if you've got your owner manual, it has all the specs with the type of fluid and amounts in then back. the attached doc has fluid level to add for auto tranny for just a drain and fill

    if not here is mine,
