They cut it out and weld in the new panel, just like they do with the rear quarter panel on a car. You'll want to see the bill, and take a magnet and check the area and make sure the don't just use filler, like they did to my buddy. His car started rusting, and when he took it back, they found out the douche nozzle who worked on his car kept the new panel and filled his with bondo.

 

Updates, op? 6500 won't cover squat. The entire bed may need to be replaced if it is cracked. Also, that cab repair will not be cheap, and like schwinn said, make sure they repair it correctly, not just a filler job. I hope you haven't cashed the check.

 

Fing drunk drivers, texters, over aggressive ck suckers, dumb fk careless sht heads, douche bag insurance agents...at least no one was hurt. Good luck on your repairs bud.

Just got the truck back....

 

How much did that set you back? I'd have paid for a plate rear with that money instead of a new stock bumper. That'll make the drunks think twice about it.

 

It looks really good btw. Just hope all the structural stuff went ok.

 

thanks and insurance paid for it all...i did think about going to an aftermarket bumper but i never followed thru with it...

 

i also walked away with $500 and waiting to sue for diminished value...

Reminds me of the time I woke up to the loud screams of tearing metal and ran outside just in time to watch as an idiot careened into my yard. The moron was both high and drunk- he was supposedly going down the road at 85 MPH (this is in a 25 zone), when he lost control, drove into my neighbor Mike's yard across the street, hit Mike's wife's Hyundai Elantra and sent it across the street into my next-door neighbor's gutter. The dude himself in his crappy blue Durango then veered into my yard- where he took out my Dad's '79 Trans Am.
That loser tried to run away, but me and Mike chased him down and got him while he was trying to throw his drug mess in the bushes- electronic scales and all. He tried to fight, but Mike slammed him down on the sidewalk real quick.
