BG 44k, $25 a can!

So my dad whos been a mechanic for 30 years has recommended me to a product known as BG 44k. It is a fuel cleanser that is supposed to really work well. All i know is it better for being behind the counter and having a pricetag of 24.95 a can! I plan on topping off my tank, Running it completely out and recording the MPG from that tank, Filling it back up and then adding the 44k and then running out that tank completely, And then the next full tank il record the MPG just to see if it improved in anyway. My hope is that i see at least 2-3MPG gained.

FYI, I will be changing the oil and rotating the tires and also changing the diff oil front and rear and also replacing the air filter.

Hopefully i will see a good 19-20MPG tank!

 

Wouldnt you not want to change the oil, rotate, and change diff oil in front and rear, and the air filter in order to see if it works?

 

Hmm... I dont know thats probably better, Your right. OK change of plans i will be changing nothing! ha didnt even think that though i think i was thinking more of seeing how good i could get but completely spaced how that would have made the improvements of the BG completely invisible

So heres the plan.

Top off fuel tank.
Run Fuel tank out completely and record MPG.
Fill with 5gal container to get to gas station.
Fill up tank completely and add BG 44K.
Run out completely once again.
Fill up with 5gal to get to gas station.
Fill up again
Run out and record MPG.

Couple questions for you guys, Do you think i should fill up with premium at any of these fill ups? Or should i keep it running regular like ive been using?

Also how do you think i should drive it while the BG44K is in the tank? Should i baby the throttle and take it easy, Drive it like i normally do, Or should i really lead foot it and run it through hard?

 

Drive like u always have and record both

 

fill up with the same octane gas, drive as you normally would, as changing driving patterns will affect your calculations.

i was able to get 23.xx MPG(twice) in a 2011 4x4 DCSB with 85 octane and driving in the mountains. (probably never went faster than 60mph on those tanks)

before you add the 44k stuff, i would do your routine maintenance, (oil change, air up and rotate tires) and use that tank of gas as the "control" testing. that way, you have a true base number of the best MPG before adding a cleaner.

 

We sell BG fuel products at work and let me tell ya they do work. The 44k we hook to the fuel rail and allow the engine to run of it. 100% true injector cleaner. Then we pour one in the tank. BG makes some great stuff.

 

And the MPG measurements are still not going to tell you anything.

Look at the Fuelly link in my sig.... variations from 23 to 26mpg. Too many variables to be able to credit any "widget" with a 1-2mpg improvement.

And BG 44k isn't going to give you that much.
It might clean the injectors and give some throttle response improvements when run through a full injector cleaning rig, but dumped in the tank?
May as well wad up a $20 bill and stuff it into the tank. It'll do the same thing.

 

for $25 a can, I'm good with my consistent 18-19 mpg.

 

Im the tech I pour in what they buy. It cleans good but doesn't increase mileage much prolly .5 lol but it's a selling point
