Afghanistan for now

I am planning on buying a new or used Tacoma after I get home from this deployment. Is there any helpful insight or tips that you guys can offer as far what to look for when I decide to buy one. I want to raise it a little and put some bumpers on it similar to the grill guard/brush guard bumpers that the ANA/AUP have on their Afghan Ford rangers over here. Thanks.
