Guys - I need some help.

I installed some KC Daylighters maybe 6 months ago and I installed the 3-prong lighted switch. It worked fine but the switch is small. I tried another switch and it functioned fine but the LED wouldn't light. I put the old switch back in and it worked fine again. Now, I bought a new lighted switch and it won't work either. I'm pretty confident I've wired it correctly. I suspect the ground, but if that was the case then the originl KC switch shouldn't light, right?

    How I wired the lights:

    http://www.kchilites.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/6315-web.pdf

    And the new switch:

    http://www.oznium.com/scion-switch-led/tech

Prong 2 is power, 3 is to the relay/lights and 4 is ground.

Thoughts? It functions OK, I'd just like it to light up. Lights are wired with relays and with fuses, so I can't see how it's really a safety issue, right? Thanks!

Does the switch not work, or just the LED within the switch? Sorry, having a tough time figuring out what the actual problem is based on your post

The switch properly controls my lights. The light on the switch itself does not light up.

It doesn't light up even when the lights are on? With a 3 prong switch, the switch should either be lit up all the time, or only when the accessory is powered. If neither of those happens but everything else works, that would lead me to believe that the switch LED is faulty.

Well its not a safety issue.
    You reference pin 3 twice?

According to the Oznium website, you've got them wired correctly. They might only be designed so the LED is only on when the switch is 'on'. To make the LED come on all the time, try swapping pins 2 and 3. Depending on how the internals of the switch work, that should make the LED come on all the time, regardless of switch position.

I would agree, but it's the second switch I've not had light. The original switch lights though, so I dunno. I thought I read somewhere that the ground might cause a light to not light...my ground is a self-tapping screw I screwed into the inner fender well. I'm thinking the ground was good enough to ground the LED in the original switch but maybe not the little xenon bulb in this one. When I get to radio shack I'm going to get more wire and route it to the same grounding bolt that the battery uses.

Yeah, I saw that and corrected the note. Pin 4 is ground, I mis-typed.

Tried switching them (cringed, expected a possible blown fuse) but nothing happened. The switch worked with 2 and 3 swapped, but the light still didn't come on even with the KC lights on.

If the ground was bad, it wouldn't work with either switch. 3-prong switches are fairly simple. Your wiring diagram is correct so recheck all your connections. A test light would be handy for this if you have one.

if the switch turns the lights on but the switch itself doesnt light up..i would say the switch isnt grounded or the bulb is blown

But the ground works for the original KC switch. That'd lead me to believe it's the bulb within the switch.

I'll pick up a voltmeter while I'm at the hardware store. Something I need anyway.

'preciate all the help guys. I'll get some more wire and new spade connectors and rule out the ground tomorrow. If that's not it, then I'll either try out a new switch from Toyota (I think there's a Scion switch just like it) or just live with it. The switch light is really just to keep me from leaving the kc lights on when my truck is off, and the blinding KC lights themselves are pretty good indicators that I left them on.

On the upside, it's a really clean install. Fits great!

Routed a new ground today with quality 18ga wire. Nothing. I guess it's the switch.
