Back Story: I bought some slotted Raybestos Rotors from autozone about 4 months ago with ceramic pads. I bought them because Raybestos is a really great company with a solid positive background for high quality parts. Rotors and pads ran AMAZING for the first 4 months. But just recently I replaced a blown hub bearing on my passenger side front.

Truck issue: Since the bearing replacement I have major steering shakes only when the brakes are applied at speeds higher than 40. Leading me to believe my rotors are really warped.

    Autozone Issue:
The brakes are warrantied and I went in to have them ordered me a new set to put on the truck BUT! autozone and Raybestos is out of these rotors completely leaving me up shit creek. What do you think I should do? Ask for blanks till mine come in? Deal with the horrible shakes ? Any other suggestions? [IMG]

Id ask for a store credit for what the raybestos costed you and just buy another reputable brand man. Brembos are pretty good but im not sure if autozone sells them or not.

Ya I'm curious as to why they ran so well and out of no where, I got the shakes. Do you think its the rotor design or possibly the blown hub bearing caused uneven wear? Because if its the design I will just ask for store credit and I will buy elsewhere...

Did you torque the lug nuts to 83 lbs when you put them on?

Well I don't know then. I've only used Brembo's before and never had a problem with them. My 2000 Taco had a bad wheel bearing but I never had a problem with the rotors from it. Do they recommend ceramic pads with those rotors? Maybe it was a bad combination of rotor and pad.

I believe they recommended it but I do think your right that the combination was bad so. I am going to look into just switching to some other set up all together.

Any chance that the shop that did your wheel bearings dropped the rotor when they pulled it off the truck?

No I actually did all the truck work and took the bearing assembly to a shop. So I was able to deal with the rotor myself.

Just got a call back from Autozone and they are going to refund me the money I spent on the rotors.
