This is my first Toyota so don't know if this is normal. Just picked it up about a month ago It's a 2012 v6 dc sb. Already have about 3000 miles on the truck so I took it in for a oil change last Friday. They put synthetic in it. Now it seems like the valves are loader then before. How load are these trucks.? Is this normal?

Ticking is normal and is quite noticeable with windows down or outside the truck.

Pretty sure it's the injectors and not the valves. And yes it's normal.

Mine is about to go in for the first oil change, and I'm inquiring about the friggin racket this engine makes, especially when cold. It sounds like it's going to come apart for cryin out loud.

There's lots of ticking that comes from V6's. Injectors tick, also the shape of the exhaust manifolds contribute to another kind of tick.

You're going to have to get used to it.
Don't worry, its not a time bomb.

Even if it were the valves needing adjustment, the only way to change that is buying new lifters that are slightly longer or shorter. Expensive.

Nope, the taco tick is universal. It was slightly louder with the 2005-2008 manifolds but Toyota never really got rid of it on the newer ones.

My mom thought my truck was a compact diesel at first...

Normal for the V6 Tacoma......there is a mod that supposedly quiets the ticking down..................like some washers or something on a part near the manifold. Im too lazy to look it up now but do a search and im sure you will find it. That being said the ticking concerned me too as I thought my 24000 mile tacoma had valve issues already when i bought it........40k later and its fine. Still ticking and still going good.

Isolating the VSV bolted to the intake manifold by putting in a soft rubber washer does make a difference. It doesn't completely eliminate the noise, however. These are just ticky trucks.
