TRD Cat Back Exhaust Question

What exhaust comes stock on the TRD Sport/Offroad? Is it the TRD Cat Back or is it some other factory exhaust?

I'm seeing someone selling a Cat Back Exhaust locally for $50 and want to make sure he's not scamming anyone into thinking he's selling at Cat Back exhaust only because it came from his TRD truck.

 

A cat back exhaust simply means 'the exhaust from the back of the catalytic converter to the exhaust tip' but from the sounds of it, he has the stock non-TRD muffler.

 

Interesting - I thought so. I'm going to verify what this guy has, a Cat Back with 15000 miles at that price is a great deal.

His post was very non-descriptive and had no photos - I'll add more info as I get it. I bet he simply has a factory exhaust from a TRD truck.

As a side note - does the muffler on a cat-back have some kind of imprint to identify it as such?

 

the stock exhaust on all the TRD trim pkg are just regular exhaust in almost all cases unless you paid extra at the dealership. if hes selling it for 50,then its almost certain it is a stock cat back..post the link so we can tell for sure

 

Agreed - When I get some photos I'll share them. The original link is so non-descript that you won't get any more out of it than I did. It simply says "Factory Cat-Back Exhaust" which is wrong (probably - pending photos)

 

Not wrong.

Cat back exhaust does not mean that the muffler is a performance muffler, it is simply the portion of the exhaust behind the cat.

He is selling the factory cat back.

 

Ok - mixing up a 'term' and a 'part', I'm on the same page as you.

He's probably not selling the TRD Performance part 'TRD Cat Back Exhaust', he's selling the Factory Exhaust from a TRD from the 'Cat Back'.

Sigh.

Essentially he should have just left out the TRD part and just said he has the factory exhaust from a V6 Tacoma.

 

Confirmed - Factory exhaust from the cat-back.
