Why didn't you just buy a V6, and start with 200 HP? If that was your end results? Instead of buying the 4cyl, and putting the extra money into it, to give it the V6 power. Doesn't make sense. But like you said, neither does buying a pre-runner, and modding it out to look like 4x4. Buying the lift, tires, bumpers, etc... to have a cool looking 4x4 truck, that's actually a 2x4.

I'm sure most of this was talked about in the last 5 pages, but I didn't feel like reading any of it.

Good luck with the truck. This website may not be the best place to get help if you actually want to build a useful truck, that's actually going to get used for it's purpose. Now if it's tire shine, and plastidip ideas you want, you've come to the right place!

Had you put more of this information into the original posts it would have made it much easier to give you information. Just an FYI in case you ever want to be more than an FNG.

Damn this turned into a flex fest real fast. OP, I say stick with your 2.7 theres nothing wrong with it. Pump it up a little, get some good suspension, weight reduction, and you'll be keeping up with those v6s off road for sure. My buddies have some 4banger single cabs that would run circles around my 4.0. I agree with whippersnapper, though; suspension first.

i want to say so many things to people in this thread. but ill just say this, tx shooter, gtfo.

OP, good luck, dont listen to alot of these internet tough guys, toon and torspd knows what hes talking about when it comes to engine performance. theres no need to swap motors or anything.

one thing that did give me the most power for offroading was gears though.

Once again your ignorance and immaturity is showing, take it to somewhere that is more prevalent like the mall or high school. Maybe you should take your own avatar sigs advice?

That is BS; don't tell me to GTFO and then give him the same advice I gave him like it was your advice.

The op wanted to off road race and asked about engine performance, hence why this is in the 'performance' section. I would already think that if the op wanted to off road race, suspension, tires, gearing, cagging, etc were already contemplated.

AND with that, this thread now gets the lock on the door. OP has enough info, names have been called, butts have been hurt. Any questions, please feel free to PM 98tacoma27.

Now lets all turn on some nice soothing music, and find another thread to E thug in. :)
