Anytime fog mod, debadged, drop in k&n, smoked taillights, led inside and out,
I have been in the process of piecing together the parts for a Yakima rack for my topper. I've seen the "tracks" the both Thule and Yakima sell for around $130.00, but then I noticed that the OEM tracks on older vehicles like 4runners (2nd gen) and explorers.

Has anyone here ever tried to salvage the tracks and install them on a camper shell?

These are the tracks I'm talking about

I had a set on mine for quite a while, I got them off a ford explorer. They worked great

I think I got them for 30 bucks at a salvage yard. the only downside is how much they can hold. Only about 100 lbs. (I have a spare tire on top of my cap 80lbs)

I ditched the bars and still use the rail system for tie downs. I have since upgraded to a basket bolted to the cap roof.

Edit.. I see you are only asking about the track.. Yes they will work and do a fine job.

Glad to hear! I think I might give it a shot since I'm on such a budget.
