I have a custom bully guard i've made that will accept 4 aftermarket lights stretching the width of the grill. I am running blacked out headlights and am looking for additional lighting, either 2 fog lamps or two driving lamps, or both. I need something durable for off road driving. I've been looking at "Hella Black Magic," but am in need of serious advice.

    Thanks guys!

First, you need to decide if you want fog lights or driving lights. Driving lights will throw the light further out but have a narrow pattern. Fog lights don't throw light very far but have a wide pattern. If they'll be mounted high, like headlight height, you should consider driving or pencil beam lights. Fog lights are more effective when placed low to the ground.

Second, decide on the usage of the lights. If you'll be running them on the road, where they could be cycled on and off quickly as oncoming traffic approaches, I'd steer away from HID's and stick with either halogen or LED lighting.

Lastly, as Brock mentioned, set a budget. Depending on how deep your pockets are, that could eliminate quite a few candidates. Some brands to consider would be Hella, PIAA, Lightforce, Kragen, Rigid Industries, Morimoto (from TRS) is now making LED bars, VisionX, IPF and I know I'm missing a few others. Personally, I also don't get the Hella craze although, when converted to HID, you can make a decent set of lights really cheap. I've got 4 PIAA 520 driving lights and am happy with the light output. If money were no object, I'd have 2 Lightforce 240 Blitz lights in the middle and 2 driving lights for the outside.

I would like to spend around $200-$250 for a set of 2. They will be used as highway lights primarily. I haven't found a place to mount lower fog lamps yet, I need to do some fab work on my brush guard and will get the fog lights later I guess.
