At what age can you leave a sleeping child in the room alone when cruising?

What do other people do when you have a young child that wants to go to sleep by 9pm b/c they are exhausted? Do you go to bed too? Do you leave them in the room alone?

After 9pm is when the fun starts happening on a boat...midnight buffets, drinks at the bar, comedy clubs, bingo, etc.

I would love to do a cruise with my family but it would be just my wife and 2 kids - currently 5yr and 1yr.

    Thanks.

The 1 yr old would worry me, I think 5 is old enough.

5 is not old enough to leave in the room alone. I would say at least 10 years old. If they can stay awake, cruises usually have day care / activity centers.

Yeah, I wouldn't leave either of my kids alone in the room. I was just curious what others who have been in this situation do.

My parents took my brother and I when we were young. They brought the neighbor and paid for her trip....but she had to stay with us at all times. She was 16 or 17 at the time.

We do plan to take a Disney Cruise in the next couple years - once the little one is potty trained. If they are potty trained, I understand you can leave them in the daycare center all day. Still sucks that one of us would have to stay in the room when one kid goes to bed.

That's life with little ones. I'd say wait till one is at least 10 or 12...even still in today's world you can't trust no one with your kids.

Take your mother-in-law along with you, in a second room or a suite with two bedrooms. She can pull baby sitting duty while you and the wife party it up.
