Mildew / condensation in brake lights

I seem to be getting this on both sides , is there a fix / cause ?

x2. If it's on both sides I'd guess that it's unlikely that it's a crack (unless you backed straight into something.

Is it the weather? You guys in a wet season up there?

 

Still dry , hasn't rained in 3 months , I think the mildew discolouration is left over from last winter / spring

 

Wife is out with the truck now , I'll take a better look when she gets hole

Chlorine will kill the mildew...just be sure to not use too much for too long as I assume it will make the plastic brittle over time. Then make sure to dry them well.

 

Obviously not good, oz. If you have mildew (mold, fungi, etc) growth inside the housing, you'll probably have to use a biological fungicide (chemicals may damage or discolor the plastic) to kill that, followed by a thorough rinse with water and a day or two to dry afterwards.

Sadly, none of that will likely prevent the problem from returning. The taillight housing isn't sealed worth a darn. Recently got liquid wax in the gap between the taillight lens (red part) and housing. Had to remove the housing and use a thin q-tip (wife hand some foam ones for makeup) to remove the wax. Wasn't thrilled with all the open gaps I saw in that housing. I used a rubber gasket (just happened to have) in the gap between the lens and housing, but there are still other places for water to enter.
