X2. I've heard home insurers dropping clients after two claims, but not with car insurance. Usually they'd simply raise your rates to unaffordable levels.

    They don't.

There's a reason that USAA is one of the cheapest insurance carriers.
    It's called risk management.
It's the same reason many life/medical insurance companies have exclusions for high-risk activity.

Most of the cheaper companies used to be good for ONE claim, then they'd dump you.
Now, they just jack your rates until you leave.

That's my point. I understand risk assessments and all that stuff, but to just drop you and not increase the rate is crazy. I've never heard of that. Believe me, I'm a staunch believer in "right to refuse service", but I guarantee you we paid more in our premium than what they had to pay out, that's the thing that pisses me off the most.

Back in the 70s and 80s, it was more common than not.

One accident or two tickets and your rates jacked.
Two accidents or 4 tickets and you were history.
Insurance companies are in business to make money.
Even the not-for-profit companies like AAA and USAA still have overhead to cover. Your AAA membership covers the membership items like towing and such, but someone has to pay the agents, the rent, etc....

Most everyone pays more in premiums than they receive in benefits.
    Everyone does with auto insurance.
    Medical? Most do, some don't.

I've been to the doc 4 times in the last 10 years.
    I pay $800/mo.
My wife burns well over $800/mo at Kaiser.

Rich- Agreed. I guess I just wouldn't expect it. And to accept me given my history, then a year later go back 4 years, which they say they only go back 3, and cite it as a reading just seems SO dis-honest to me. My wife has GREAT history of driving. This one in 2011 was her first one ever. I don't know. I plan to try to reason with them, but likely ill take my business elsewhere.

Well, my wife talked to them today and they are going to re-new our insurance again. The guy I guess was really nice and didn't quite understand the sudden drop as well. So, good for us. With our baby on the way, I'm really trying to stay on budget. Didn't want a jack up in rates.

Oh! Ok. Well, no rush, but if mods need to do some cleaning, you can delete if you like. :)))

Would not use their car buying service again. It's helpful to find a car with the options you want but most dealerships won't honor the price, they just use it to suck you in and get you to the store.

I can honestly say that I love USAA. Granted I also understand where the OP is coming from. I am 29 right now and have been using USAA since I was 17. I have had 3 accidents (1 my fault) and 7 or more speeding tickets (whose counting anyways). Yeah my rates back then went up but have since dropped like a rock. I just got in an accident 1.5yrs ago with my 2010 camaro and my rates didn't go up a penny. USAA has accident forgiveness like most major companies. I currently pay $645/6months for '12 tacoma, '10 equinox, 50k in renters, 2.5k valuable property and 5k in computers. Geico wanted just around $1500/6months for the same. I have used the car buying service for my past 4 cars and have always come close within a few hundred of what I was quoted. Glad that they picked you back up OP.
