If you give them nearly $600 for services, you will most certainly be paying for it. Just on the ass end, not the front.

My dealer wanted $1800+ for a 7yr/100K extended warrentee. I declined since my credit union offered a 7yr/125K warrentee for $925...I figured just over a bill/yr was worth it...

I know they are out to make money...that's why they are in business, but to be deceitful on top of it is just wrong! Thank goodness for the memeber here who post all of the DIY's, Mod's and best places to shop for equipment and supplies. This place is a dealerships worst enemy..lol....:D

Exactly if you don't change your oil for 30,000 miles and you throw a rod bearing and need an over haul then yes lack of maintenance will void your warranty on your ENGINE nothing more. The manufacture insist if you have mechanical know how to do your own repairs.

They quoted me the same when I bought my 2012. I said no thanks. The factory warranty is fine.

The extended warranty you have is just a gimmick money maker as you are required to have ALL Service completed at the dealer period. This is perfectly legal and legit and has absolutely nothing to do with Toyota. It is a dealer game. That is the gotcha. You are paying for it, most people don't realize it.

OP - I checked out that same dealership along with several others in GA. Chatham Parkway Toyota also offers a "limited lifetime warranty" supposedly transferable to "other dealerships" around the country. As others has stated it is complete BS.

I used to sell cars back in the early 2000s. The dealership I worked for did the same thing - why I left them quick. The whole purpose is to keep your money with them. If you read any of that fine print on "their" warranty it will state that only low cost items are covered. Not your engine or powertrain - things that matter. Yeah if you get a service done somewhere else it will void their stuff not toyota's. Who cares if you keep it past 60k miles; the probability something will break is low (its a Toyota). Minor changes and fixes that are DYIs are here on the site. Save yourself the money and do it yourself. Good luck!
