I was leaving a restaurant tonight when all of a sudden I heard this really loud thump. For a minute I thought I hit and/or ran over something but the road was clear. I slowed down but kept on driving. Every time I went over a rutt or crack on the road the thump came back and seemed to get louder. I stopped a gas station to check underneath but couldn't see anything. So I kept driving till I got home. At first I thought I broke a clamp that held the muffler but everything was intact,,, then I checked the driveline, all ok,,, proceeded to check all of the heat shields,,, everything was good. I was stumped but then cought a glimpse of the rear driver side leaf spring... BROKEN!!!
I have a 1" block as part of the Revteck Lift but never thought it would be tall enough to break a leaf. My previous truck had a 4" block, did a shit load of off roadind and carried a ton of people and kegs and never encountered a problem. This truck has only seen the dirt once since I've owned. I'm very disappointed at quality of this Toyota product.
Anyways, do any AZ guys in the Phx area have a set of old leaf springs lying around? If so I'd be willing to buy them ASAP. Please pm me.
Ps still trying to figure out how to load pix so I can show the damage.

True true could happen to any make or model but this is my 3rd Toyota truck and never had an issue with the rear suspension.

I'm the 2nd owner... Knew the previous owner. Guy bought the truck with lift straight from dealer. He took very good care of it. Guy never took it off roading or hauled crap around.
And yes I love my truck, can't see myself driving another make.

Maybe I should have posted this in the AZ section since I'm also asking for help?

Sorry to hear. Even though the stock leaf packs are "junk" they still shouldn't break under normal driving conditions.

Sometimes people will post old leaf packs in the for sale section here when they upgrade - maybe you can snag some for cheap.

Go find yourself another pack and then build it up with extra leaves from junkyard packs.

I broke two factory 4-leaf packs so far and I never even hit 40,000 km's yet. These leaf springs are crap. If it happens again, i'm going aftermarket. The delearship was going to charge me $590 + Labor for my last set. I complained and they paid 80%.

On my '08, the rear suspension sits on the overload spring when there's nothing in the bed. Need to replace with something much stronger because I load it quite a bit for camping and such and would sure like some travel for the off roading I do.

Don't want to lift much, if at all. I know some have gone with a four or five pack leaf spring and then Bilstein 5100s set at about an inch lift, but I can't find the heavier leaf springs.

What brands and where is everyone getting these better leaf springs? All help will be appreciated!
