Bought a brand new 2011 Stock radio XM ready from a TW member(Thanks). It had the XM module inside.

Of course there is no sat antenna or wiring run in my 2007 Access Cab. I had read about people purchasing adapters for the blue toyo sat plug to go to an aftermarket antenna and it costing around 80 bucks or more.

I partially disassembled the stereo, and removed the blue plug(which is just a pigtail to the XM module). Then purchased an aftermarket ant from best buy for 35 bucks.

It was almost a direct fit o.25" smb to 0.25" smb. No wire cutting required. I just had to cut a narrow notch in the plastic connector that housed the smb fitting on the new antenna. This was to accommodate alignment of the fittings.

    Thats what I did today.

I have been wondering this, I have a 2006, and I kinda want to get a 2009+ head unit, is there any functionality loss? Were there any issues with fit? I dont have any desire to make the XM work, just the CD player and radio, and maybe the AUX port.

The 2005-2011 are all plug and play with the exception that if you have the premium JBL audio system, a regular stock radio is not plug and play. Same goes if you dont have the JBL system, you cannot easily install a JBL radio.

for the aux capability, You can get the GROM adapter for the stock radio. GROM-USB2P-TOY has ipod/aux/usb. It connects directly to the cd1 extension port on the back of the factory radio. It needs to be ordered according to the year of the radio you are installing i think.

There should be no loss of functionality.\
The fitment of these years is pretty much exactly the same. There are a couple tutorials on here that show the proper steps to remove the radio. Install in reverse.

Cool, I have already modified mine with the cheap soldered in aux port from radio shack, but like the look of the newer 2009+ radios, and they seem to go cheap around here, might have to pick one up.
