Hey guys, i've been looking for a new head unit for my truck. I haven't been into sterios since high school. I always used Alpine but have no idea if they are still quality or not. All I really want is a way to play my IPOD. That's it. I could care less about touch screens and blue tooth or any of that jazz. I just want a good head unit that can play a cd and my IPOD...any suggegstions would be greatlt appreciated!

Just stick with a major brand, Pioneer, Alpine, Etc and you will be good to go.

    Check out crutchfield.com or sonicelectronix.com

Crutchfield has a huge selection for every price range and most of their stuff comes with all the installation gear for free (bezel, wiring harness, etc), sonic has much better pricing, but a lot less selection.

Check out this link to crutchfield, if it works it should show you all Pioneer and Alpine Head Units that have USB and 1/8" mini aux inputs and are ipod compatible.

Sounds like you have some you are considering. I'd suggest writing down the model numbers and then visiting local shops to see if you can see them in operation. Take your ipod and cable along to see if they will allow you to hook in.

This way you can see exactly how they operate, how the ipod control functions work, if they are a bit clunky to try and navigate etc. Easier to find something you like or do not like now rather than when you've got it all installed and find its a real pain to navigate your ipod to find anything.

Good point. I try to do that, it just always seems what the local shops have isn't the same as what the internet has.....I have found a couple of the Alpines at local shops to be the same and that's the way i'm leaning, but that may also be because sub-conscously that's what i've always used...lol
