Today I was sitting in my truck just relaxing and figured I would wipe down the inside a little with a soft cloth. I was wiping by the A/C vents and saw my paint was peeling off there. Has anybody else had this problem? If so do you know what causes this? I haven't seen any other areas that are peeling which is good but I really want to know what causes this so I can prevent it from happening again. I'll be getting a service soon so I'll ask the dealership about it also. BTW my truck is a 2010 DBL CAB SPORT.

Here's a pic it's the driver side vent. Kind of hard to see:

Here's a close up very easy to see at the right corner and left side:

    Thanks for any help :)

It looks like something dripped down the black panel and ran along the silver paint... eating it up along the way.

Agreed. What do you use when cleaning your interior/windows etc?

Years ago I had a Little Tree air freshener hanging from my rear view mirror. Some chemical dripped from it and landed on the dash. Paint peeled exactly like in your picture. Did you have a similar product near your air vent?

I've seen this before. Those air fresheners can screw up plastics and paint.

Yuck, that really sucks. You have to be careful with volatile chemicals, air fresheners, solvents, etc.

There is something to be said about the old style "just plain plastic" dash boards. Not as pretty, but they held up better in the long run.

In my first picture near bottom corner you can see a little yellow cheetah print cloth, it's a screen cleaner my gf got when she bought her cell phone. I usually use that works like a duster or sometimes I go with a lightly dampened microfiber cloth. Never any chemicals though.

Actually I just remembered my gf used to like those little clip air fresheners that go on the vent. I want to say the brand was febreze but not sure. Maybe that was it, wasn't on long cause I didn't like it but maybe a week or two of using it.
