I was reading threads about putting outlets in the truck and didn't want to hack up my console, so I tried another method. I used an extension cord with three outlets on it and ran it under the passenger seat.

    Parts Used:
-(1) 8 ft. black extension cord from target - $8

First you need to take off your center console. It's four bolts. No pics needed.

Next take your new extension cord and lop off the plug, then peel the three wires apart a few inches. You should have two wires for power and one ground. My ground was the only wire with colored(green) insulation.

Take the electric tape off of the wire bundle going to your inverter and separate the red/white wire and the solid green wire.

Cut the red/white and green wires and strip some insulation off. Now, twist the wires back together.

Twist one power wire from your extension cord to the red/white wire on the inverter and the other power wire from your extension cord to the green wire on the inverter.(No pics of this)

Next take the ground wire (Green from extension cord) and ground it to the truck. I used the bolt that was already grounding other wires seen below.

    Put it back together.

Hide it under the seat until you need it.

Does it matter what wire from the cord goes the the inverter wires?

Nope, Either way doesn't matter. Just that the ground goes to the ground.
