So I go out to my truck this morning and right in the middle of the floor mat is this.

I am 99% sure this came from under the dash from behind the steering wheel.
It just fell out in the middle of the night?

It looks like a two thirds grommet.

Anyone have anyidea what this is and where it goes?

    Here are some better photo's.

Also it is made out of rubber.

That's ridiculous, it's onviously a tracking device grommet. The government uses them to monitor suspicious people

It goes in the spring that is hooked to the parking brake lever it goes in the end of the spring closest to the firewall. I just poked around under my dash. Not sure why its there but mine was almost out. I tried to take a picture but it came out to dark.

1 1/8 inches long and looks to be for a 1/2 inche hole.

Its not broken or cut that is how it was manufactured.

I will try to take a photo with my good camera in a little bit and reload.

Sorry forgot the autos are different. Is there a return spring for the parking brake for the autos? It does look just like the rubber gromet thing thats in the spring on my lever in my manual. I think its just a buffer for when the spring compresses.

Fill the cab with water, where ever it pours out look to see if a grommet is missing.

It goes in the return spring for the brake pedal. It goes inside the spring closest to the steering column. I saw that mine was hanging about half way out a few days ago. My guess it that it's suppose to keep the spring from vibrating and making noise.

You may want to put it back quickly, I hear that it adds 50 hp at the wheel, I and increases gas mileage.

Like a poster said above, probably a wire shield of some sort...now the wire rattling sound in your steering column will haunt you forever
