I bought a new dash cover and on the passenger side it hangs over the air bag area and I was concerned, I called the company and the designer says you just dont velcro it down at the flap over the air bag portion?

Just wanted to ask the majority opinion.

Can somebody explain how the air bag deploys when it does come out?

    Thanks

The airbag explodes through the dash panel, ripping it apart.

Does it make any sense that if my dash cover flap covers all of this bag and as long as I dont velcro it, they say it will work fine? I have no experience in air bags, fortunately

You mean you have a DASH MAT or something similar? Like, something that sits on the dash and covers it up making it a soft surface? As long as there's a hole/flap in it it should be ok. Not sure how it would react to the airbag popping out but as long as there's a way for it to get through it absolutely will. Consider how hard your dash is and then remember that the airbag explodes though that first....

I didn't velcro mine. But then again every time I step on the gas good, it ends up on my lap.

The airbags deploy with such force and speed it will probably rip the dash mat apart wether you velcro it or not. Left unvelcro'd you will almost certainly be fine.
