    hey everybody,

I had a new clutch put in my tacoma about 2-3 months ago and for the past couple weeks I noticed it getting harder and harder to shift gears......decided to replace clutch master and slave cyl.....thinking they were wearing...(got 240,000)......went to loosen bolts on slave and one bolt was loose already....Im thinking the mechanic overlooked......I tighten them up and test drove it..........everything is great..........feels great.......a few hours later....im driving and clutch pedal flops and no clutch......i get out and look around....then under.....and the slave piston is out....leaking....and fork arm is sheared back , torn metal and obviously failed......the question is ........did the slave being loose for those few months cause the fork to fail by maybe the slop in the slave piston/arm due to loose bolt........Im thinking the piston arm was maybe contacting the the fork off center or in a way to cause excess stress......especially because as soon as I tighten the bolts ....it worked fine...but the damage has been done for the past few months.....so it didnt take much

because Im going back to the mechanic and you know hes gonna say it was something else

    what does anybody think

could the new clutch be damaged from this as well ????

    Im really dissappointed.....

I also have a 1999 and just did my master and slave. With your situation I would think the clutch is fine but you may have a harder time finding a replacement fork. And the transmission will have to be pulled again, I think , to replace it. Good luck and keep us posted.
