OK.. so recently purchased an LCE header and I attempted to install it last night but it got dark earlier than expected and I live in an apartment complex with no garage so I had to call it quits. I reassembled everything that I had taken off, which only happened to be the air intake and a few bolts on the heat shield and the other stuff right above the heat shield. So this morning, I checked the forecast and we are supposed to get heavy showers today so I realized I had to do this some other time. Went out to double check that everything was plugged in.. All hoses and everything else is properly plugged in. I plugged back in the battery and attempted to start the engine just as a double check in case I needed to go somewhere.. Everything turned on fine, but smoke started immediately coming out of the engine bay so I turned it back off. This was alarming, but I am assuming there was some debris from the rusted bolts that got onto the stock manifold. The smoke was coming from under the heat shield. What do you guys think about this? I don't see what else would have caused the engine to smoke from the limited amount of piddling I did yesterday. Will WD40 or the small debris from the bolts smoke when present on the stock manifold? I'd like to just not drive it til I put the header on but I dunno how long this weather will last, which was the reason I didn't finish assembly in the first place.

Thats what I figured, and i did some research and there seems to be other stories of people getting WD40 on their header and causing smoke to pour out. nonetheless its not a good feeling when you see smoke coming from your engine

alright. well I'm gonna run the truck a min or two to see if it dwindles down. I just dont see how I could have fucked something up with the engine by unscrewing and rescrewing bolts and unplugging replugging tubes. If so, I dont need to be working on my truck. Ill report back haha

Most likely the wd40 I changed my exhaust out and the muffler was tight so I put some hand cleaner from work around it to get it together. Let's just say I put on a smoke show haha
