My 2010 stock radio developed a problem this morning on the way home from work. I'm listening to the radio and when I press any of the buttons (presets, input selector, etc) the display goes completely blank, the little LED's next to the CD slot light up and all of the buttons stop working, but the audio still works. I can still spin both knobs (volume and Tune) and those continue to function but NO button will work. I can't even turn it off. When I turn the truck off and back on the screen comes back but only until the first button is pressed. Then it repeats the issue.

I looked briefly for anyone else having this issue and turned up nothing. It is still covered under warranty so getting replaced isn't an issue, but I just came back from the dealership for regular maintenance and didn't want to have to go back so soon if I didn't have to. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this and if so were you able to fix it. Thanks in advance.

Replace the radio.... Internal failure. Seen it many times.

I was hoping that wasn't the case. Oh well. Ok....one more question. There are currently CD's in the unit. Are those gone for good or can I get them out?

    Can't eject them ???
if you can't try disconnecting the battery and trying again. sometimes it will behave itself enough to get them out. Just try it for the next week and if they come out don't put them back in and go get it replaced. You can request the cd's in there to be sent back and have them note it on the return slip. Sometimes they do, most of the time no.
I never put originals in a deck.

Ok, I let the truck sit over night and was able to eject them this morning. And now it seems the radio works just fine. I hate intermittent problems. :(

    Nothing yet
I have a 2010 tacoma Double cab same issue, brought to dealer my brother in law works at, Toyota replaced radio free of charge. Service tech said that was the 5th truck in the last month. Toyota may issue a recall. Save your receipts if you had to pay.

We are having some of the similar issues with my wife's 2010 corolla. Face black's out, but usually come's right back. Dealer time i guess.

You can get the cd's out with out the deck working, but you have to disassemble the entire thing. That's the easy part.

Putting it back together, not so easy.

Only intermitent, but I have had a station preset buttin eject a disc and then the orange/black screen went hay wire. Radio continued to play, and I could change stations with steering wheel control.

Any one have a similar issue with stock radio/CD player?

    Too few to list.
I test drove a 2009 (brand new then) tacoma with a non-working radio (knobs didn't work, didn't want to eject, etc...) I didn't buy that one but I did buy a 2009 Tacoma then and it developed the same radio problem and the dealership replaced it. It was intermittent as well. I believe there's a TSB for that along with the JBL amp issue that was also replaced by the dealership. For a while the radio was actually in back order and there was a 2-3 month wait time.
