front vs. rear suspension in 2nd gens

    Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that the front end of the 2nd generation Tacomas tend to sag a little bit compared to the rear end? There seems to be more space above the rear tires (see picture).

    Does this buy anyone else? Is this a factory thing that can be fixed by either a lift kit or lowering the back?

    The weight is more in the front then The rear, causing rake. All stock trucks have it. It can be solved by lifting the front end.

    they are like that for a reason. If you fill the bed up, it will level the front and back. If you want to offset that you can either buy and install a lift, leveling kit, or lower kit. Its really up to you. It is a factory thing:cool:

    Ever since the Corvair walked the earth vehicles have been built to Push or Understeer when cournering as a safety measure.
    Not an easy trick with trucks as the back is light and does not want to stick, so engineers have to compensate. Lowering the front vs back transfers weight more to the front and produces the desired push or front sliding before the back effect.

    This is safer for avg. driver as the natural reaction is to hit the brakes when you enter a corner too fast and the front tires loose contact first.
    By applying the brakes you load more weight on the tires and help them gain traction again.


    Or it may be just to add load capacity :D:D

    Thanks!

    Do you think putting a camper shell on it would level it out by itself, or would you need to go ahead and get adjustable shocks past that to do the job?

    Yes indeed any weight added to the back will help.
    The rear springs are made of pasta and will quickly start sagging with anything over an air mattress in the bed!!

    Actually my last truck didn't do it. But I put a camper on quickly after buying, and maybe I'm just not observant enough to have noticed it on other trucks.
