You did the right thing. The business for the dealer is either to make money on trades or ship them to auction. My trade was a joke to the dealer, a 95 yota P/U with a plow. Offered me $450. Got the dealer to come down another 500 on the new rig, bought it and sold the 95 for 4k. They simply won't do trade in deals, they can't afford it. The margins on the new ones is not big enuf. The ywant nice trades at gimme prices that they can clean up and make a few grand on...Get a dealer at the end of a big month to deal on a truck on the lot, if they have to shop around, you won't get the deal you are after, generally. It's coming into a good time to score a 12, too! I've walked away too, it's hard the first time but will save you good money once you get used to doing it.
