is the factory toytec lift a true 3" lift or is it just a block in the front pretty much??? mine has the factory toytec and was thinking about getting a fabtech or pro comp 3" lift. will there be any difference? more/less tire clearance? thanks. or give me some ideas on what kind of 3" lift to get :D

A friend of mine bought his 2012 with a factory Toytec Ultimate lift. It consists of Toytecs bilstein adjustable coilovers in the front, bilstein 5100 rear shocks, and a 2" block in under the rear leaf springs. IMHO, not worth it.

If you want a solid 3" lift kit you can actually use off-road without worrying about damaging your truck, most people here will recommend an Old Man Emu lift. They sell them on Toytec's website.

I don't know what you all mean by "factory" Toytec lift, but the Toytec Ultimate lift is a pretty good choice for off road. you have the option of choosing from 2 different add a leafs, full OME leaf springs or a lift block in the rear. I would say that your friend with the block chose poorly.

The Bilsteins with e OME coils up front are a good choice as well. I would get a full OME kit, but I am slightly biased.

It didn't come from the factory with that lift installed. The dealer put it on. It is quite common. Dealers install lifts, sometimes good stuff, usually half assed and over-charge for them.

Uhhhhh are you SURE you have a Toytec lift? Did you buy your truck new? The only lift from the factory on a Tacoma are the new Baja series trucks. Sounds like a dealer add on if it actually has it.

As far as the actual Toytec ultimate lift, you'd be downgrading IMO from that to Pro Comp.

He wasn't given the option, which he should have researched more and complained...but I digress. Yes it was a dealer add-on, and WAY overpriced.

Spacer lift up front. Junk and NOT part of the Toytec Ultimate lift kit.

The UL comes with adjustable coilovers on the front.

    Wrong and right.

I have the toytec ULK. It says toytec on the aluminum piece on top of the spring.

Like others have stated, it didn't come from the "factory". It's a dealer add on.

This pic isn't great but you get the idea...

I suppose that is kind of a spacer. I consider it the top of the coilover, but really thick. It does do the same thing as a spacer, good point.

I wonder if that preloads the spring?

You're right. I think it is a spacer too.

I am considering buying the factory Baja suspension stuff if it's not too much $$.

If they even let you buy it they would probably charge too much plenty of good stuff out there.
