15K maintenance

    Just passed 15K on my 2009 taco and the book says I need a 15K checkup. What do i really need to do? Is there something I can do at home or do I need to take the truck to the shop? I think the book says I need to lube the 4wd shaft....how the heck do I do it?

    Also, I was wondering what you all use when you replace the differential fluids and transmission fluid. Is there anything "better" than the toyota fluids? In the past I have always gone to the dealership to have the maintenance done but they are so freaking expensive for routine maintenance.

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    Dont worry about the tranny. The auto is good for along time. There is a write up on the diff on here, and the Drive shaft just needs a shot of grease if it has grease zerks along it.

    Only thing to really do for the 15K service is :
    Change engine oil and filter
    replace air filter (If needed)
    Replace Diff oil (F&R if 4x4)
    Replace tranny fluid (If manual tranny)
    replace transfer case oil (if 4x4)
    Lube drive shaft (if 4x4)

    If the rear diff is an Limited slip diff (Off Road trucks need not apply), use LS addative.

    Here you go. I just put 3qts of Mobil1
    $30 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)
    75w-90 in my rear diff this weekend for the 30k mile maint. All in it was $37 (b/c I had to purchase a 24mm socket).


    Edit: Damn... Guess you already found the thread. Oh well...
