what kind of oil do you run?

Usually I run 5w30 Mobil 1 but I got some 0w30 M1 for a great price. Not sure the difference but then I talked to a guy who used to work at jiffy lube and he said that I should be running 20w50. What do you all use? Can anyone point me in the right direction to reseach the different types and weights of oil. I have tried to google it but it just takes you to various websites and blogs with personl opinions and really no tech to back up the BS.

 

You actually believe anything those morons say at Jiffy Lube? The difference between the 2 is the weight of the oil. 0w30 is slightly less thick than the 5w, but it's supposed to give you better MPG. Running either one will be fine. BUT WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T RUN 20w50 IN YOUR BRAND NEW TRUCK. Just follow what the owner's manual recommends and you'll be find. One more thing, stay away from those morons over at Jiffy Lube, I bet they don't know the difference between left and right.

 

The funny thing about the jiffy lube story is that I talked to the owner (or ex owner?????) who told me about the 20w50. I thought he was either full of $hit or just plain stupid but to be honest i really dont know much about it. I started researching it but every website you go on has differenet opinions (sort of like here but......). I just thought I would toss out the idea. I will stick with 5w30 or 0w30.

Use what the owners manual says. Can't go wrong with that.

 

Valvoline Full Synthetic every 3k! Sometimes it's Mobile 1, but it's always 5W-30...always!

Its also kinda fun to change your own oil. Gives me a sense of accomplishment when I do something on my truck. Just you and the old girl gettin down and dirty...

honestly just go to wall mart buy supertech full synthetic (cheapest synthetic u can buy) and change it your self its not that hard. oh and run the 5w30 only use the 20w50 if u are burning oil faster than your gas

i run mobil1 5w30 or pennzoil platinum 5w30................. and here is something i posted a good while back.........good to listen to about jiffy lube........
