I pick up my new 2013 Tacoma Limited tomorrow. I am new to this site although I have been driving my 2004 TRD Double cab for 8 years (it was an 87 SR5 extended cab before that). I'm not too keen on the plastic chrome caps on the rims of the new truck and it looks like they can be removed to reveal an aluminium rim underneath. Has anyone had any experience with this yet?

Most manufactures are putting plastic chrome cladding on their rims. It is maintenance free and stays shiny forever.

You can remove the chrome cladding. But, it is held on with some wicked epoxy and the aluminum underneath is not finished.

Rigid SR 20" LED Light bar, Pelfreybuilt Front Plate Bumper Ordered. Looking at Rear Plate Bumpers now.

Let's be honest, It's to cut costs. Cheap ass.
Get some real alloy rims and toss those in a heap.
