Glad to see that they went to the extent that they did to make sure everything was okay. :) So what did they drain, if anything? And is the tech going to be "retrained" in a case like this? Hows the tranny fluid?

Apparently they didn't drain anything... Tranny was good.
I didn't ask about the tech, although I hope no one lost a job over this. I've been in tech positions and made mistakes (nothing near this bad) but learned from them and it never happened again.

Yeah, you never told us if the tranny fluid was all still there and/or if the tranny plug had been removed or not. Dealership should be doing some major customer appreciation (ass kissin) & retraining or restaffing of maintenance techs. Sounds like they did give good start on the customer appreciation part.........

I hope he didn't loose a job, either, which is why I asked if he were to be "retrained". Just glad nothing happened to the truck, is what it boils down to. Seems like it cost the dealership a pretty penny, so hopefully he won't make that mistake again.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I think you will be fine, but damn, I can't believe it held another oil change in there without overfilling. Really sucks he screwed you over on it, it could have caused a lot of headaches down the road had you not caught it.

Any chance you could post what dealership this was to help others here on TW avoid this happening to their truck?

Ok, then maybe the OP could post the dealerships name because of the great customer service they gave him afterwards?

Unless it was his third time then they should can his ass.

But it sounds like they owned up to and went above and beyond.

I was at Wolfchase toyota and because of their customer service I will continue to recommend them. They did make a mistake but they owned it which is huge in my book.
PS. I just noticed the jonschneider comment! Nicely played sir... Nicely played!

It is a rarity that they stepped up the way they did without any of the seemingly standard bullshit fight to get there. That level of integrity sets the bar way high for most dealerships nowadays. I applaud their being an example for other dealers to try and live up to.

my friends wife drove home and looked out the rearview and saw a line of oil..she intelligently stopped the car and looked. the drain plug had fallen out.

this was Lexus..the dealership towed her car back..and bought it. then she got the best friggen deal on a new one ever.. then me and her husband (his fault) spilled coffee in the back.

i think the coffee pissed her off more. :D

Well, you and her husband were fooling on the back of Lexus and spilled coffee. Maybe she had very good reason to be upset. ;) :D
