So that spring isn't secured to anything? Seems reckless...

    Stock leaf springs suck.
The zuk mod is only a bandaid and frankly it's a ghetto way of lifting.

Do it once, do it right.

There's a version in which you weld mounts for the spring to sit on/get wedged in.

Thats a good point, new springs are the best option.

First thought that comes to mind is why doesn't the under side of my 8 year old taco looks as good as his 25 year old runner with 260,000 miles !!

Seriously I would rather put the $100 or so spent on those coils into new leaf packs.

That set up does seem a bit sketchy. Have fun when it pops out. I've seen it happen to people offroading and it's quite difficult to flex it out again exactly right enough to get it back in. lol

Just spend the extra money and do it right I say.

14 inch springs plus a 2.5 inch bump stops/spring buckets = 16.5" of travel for a zuk mod before it would pop out

with stock leaf springs and standard lift shocks in the rear it will never pop out

that may be one of the biggest redneck fix i have ever seen on a taco. and i will agree with whoever said that it wouldn't work for crawling there are few things scarier than redneck hack job crawlers out on the trails. i just have to run away form them. do it right the first time and that way you don't have to redo it in a year and fix what ever broke doing it the wrong way.
