anybody know if i can call a firearm manufacturer to check on the authenticity of a rife? I found a used Hk G3 A1 in a store and need to research before "pulling the trigger"?

If I use the Serial Number would that be cool?

I have never seen one in a store, and considering i found it in a pawn shop I really dont want to trust their judgement

    Thank You.

if you get the serial number you could look online and match it with known guns numbers, no? im sure you could call them but you would probably be on hold forever talking to a customer service rep only to find out nothing..

the problem with this particular rifle is that they make plenty of kits to make a rifle look like one. I want an original, all hk approved parts. Kits are not approved by Hk, so I really dont want to spend the money on a fake

Yes. Manufacturers will have on file all SN produced. My uncle has actually done this with two firearms he obtained at garage sales. One is a rifle...unsure of the details but the other turned out to be an authentic 1873 Colt single action.
