Never under-estimate the MAF sensor!! My '99 Tacoma 3.4L, 4wd, started with a slight miss on long hills, then threw a code PO-101. After i changed plugs, air filter, fuel filter, and pulled and throughly cleaned the valve body, it was still doing the same thing!! No power, bogging down, not to mention terrible gas mileage!! I finally had had enough!! Sooooo, i took it to AutoZone. After clearing 7 other codes, i finally found the culprit!! Yep, the ole Mass Air Flow sensor!!! It was hard for me to believe that something so small, could cause the engine to run that BAD!!! Just wanted to post this, hoping it might help someone else. :)
